What's the 80 Plus Energy Efficiency Certification?

The 80 Plus Energy Efficiency Certification means that it is at least 80 percent efficient across a range of loads (20 percent, 50 percent and 100 percent). Sea Sonic Electronics is the first power supply manufacturer to qualify for the stringent 80 Plus Energy Efficiency Certification, cutting computer energy use by 20 percent and qualifying for first-ever rebates from electric utilities.

About the 80 Plus Program
The 80 Plus program was designed and is administered by Ecos Consulting (www.ecosconsulting.com), an energy efficiency firm that leverages the power of the market to accelerate sales of energy-efficient technologies. Q41
Why does the Seasonic power supply have an empty pin in the main power connector?

In the past, this empty pin in the main power connector was to support ¡V5V output. Now that the ¡V5V is no more necessary for modern PC, according to Intel¡¦s Power Supply Design Guide, this pin should keep empty to fit the specification. Therefore, it is not a defect on your power supply. For more information, please refer to Q24 Why remove ¡V5V?

Power Supply Jump Start Guideline- To check if the PSU is functional

1. Remove the AC power cord from the power supply and unplug the power supply from all peripheral devices.
2. Short between the green and black wires on the 24-pin connector (as show below), with a paper clip or piece of wire.
3. Plug the AC power cord into the power supply. Have the AC coming directly from wall outlet. And then set the switch to ¡§I¡¨ status
4. See if the power supply fan is running. If so, your supply is probably good.
